Day One of AICC gets off to a fine start

Today is Day One of the ninth Amateur Inter-Club Championship, which this year is in the picturesque village of Lech in the Arlberg region of Austria. Snow and weather conditions are excellent.

The 160 racers in this year’s event represent leading ski clubs from the UK – including Kandahar and DHO – and the Alpine region. The organising club this year is Ski-Club Arlberg, which was founded in 1901 and is possibly the oldest ski club in the world.

MPI Brokers is a sponsor of the event, and Managing Director Michael Pettifer is racing for the DHO. The picture shows one of his DHO teammates, Jenny Ferguson, with some of the sponsor banners.

Snow conditions are perfect and the weather is cold but sunny, he reported this morning.

Today’s programme includes two runs of the Giant Slalom, with a team parallel slalom after lunch.
