Supported by prominent travel and insurance bodies, the survey aims to assess the scale of a problem that might be looming after Brexit.

Many holiday companies currently send employees overseas for summer or winter jobs under the Posted Workers Abroad Directive. Typically, these are ‘seasonaire’ jobs such as reps, chalet and villa staff, bar workers, nannies and tennis or sailing instructors.

There is a growing fear in the travel sector that many of these opportunities could disappear if the Directive is not retained or replaced with a similar arrangement in the Brexit process.

Respondents to the ‘Save The Seasonaire’ survey are being asked to provide numbers of posted workers, annual turnover and number of customers. They are also asked to estimate the financial impact if the Posted Workers Abroad Directive is not retained or replaced.

Data from the survey will provide detailed statistics for presentation to The Department for Exiting the European Union, demonstrating the importance attached to this part of the travel sector.

The survey is promoted by ski and travel insurance specialist MPI Brokers, in association with ITT (Institute of Travel and Tourism), ABTA (representing travel agents and tour operators), AITO (Association of Independent Tour Operators) and BIBA (the British Insurance Brokers Association).

Companies have until 31 August to submit their responses to the survey.
